habits isStephen R. Covey
3 of these habits that are in
alignment with my personality/traits
1. Be Proactive
Take
initiative in life by realizing that your decisions (and how they align with
life's principles) are the primary determining factor for effectiveness in your
life. Take responsibility for your choices and the consequences that follow.
This can help with college and the workpace when procrastination kicks in and delays us from starting and completing a project.
2. Think
Win-Win
Genuinely
strive for mutually beneficial solutions or agreements in your relationships.
Value and respect people by understanding a "win" for all is ultimately
a better long-term resolution than if only one person in the situation had
gotten his way.
3. Seek First
to Understand, Then to be Understood
Use empathic
listening to be genuinely influenced by a person, which compels them to
reciprocate the listening and take an open mind to being influenced by you.
This creates an atmosphere of caring, and positive problem solving.
LinkedIn is the largest professional network which connects
you to your trusted contacts and helps you exchange profiles, information, and
opportunities with a vast network of professionals. Professionals use Linkedin
in order to connect with each other with regards to career opportunities and
business potentials.
2.Subscribing to
Blogs and RSS feeds
A blog or an RSS feed is a website consisting of entries
that a professional has subscribed to follow. The blog or feed source is being
regularly updated with new sources and more information that both the
professional as well as businesses use to promote themselves. A blog can also
be very useful with regards to education and training.
3.Facebook

can create a personal profile, add other users as friends, and exchange

This website is used for both social as well as professional brand imaging.

valuable information about them with regards to future potential opportunities.
4.Using Twitter
Twitter is an online social networking service that allows
its users to send and read posts of up to 140 characters, known as
"tweets". Professionals use Twitter to exchange their views online
and share their opinions. They also follow other Twitter feeds to enhance their
own career and gain valuable information in real time to keep themselves up to
date.

to analyze, or display social connections of friends, potential applicants, and
competitors. The networks can be used for business purposes as well as future
job opportunities. A user may use these tools to find contacts, job
opportunities and information about their particular profession.
What is 'Social Networking'?
The use of internet-based social media programs to make
connections with friends, family, classmates, customers and clients. Social
networking can be done for social purposes, business purposes or both. The
programs show the associations between individuals and facilitate the
acquisition of new contacts.It
encompasses many Internet-based tools that make it easy for people to listen,
interact, engage and collaborate with each other. Some examples of social
networking are Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Twitter.
Are there other ways social media is being used by
businesses?
Many types of businesses are now including social media in
marketing plans. The goal is to take advantage of the incredible opportunities
available in the social space, like lead and sales generation, real-time
customer service and the opportunity to identify and work with brand
evangelists.
Are job recruiters using social media tools to find
potential job candidates?
A recent article by Small Business Trends brings to
attention, social media is quickly changing from a possible asset for a job
search into a full-blown requirement.
According to the article, 37 percent of employers admitted
in a popular poll to screening potential employment candidates through their
social media presences. Of these employers, 45 percent said that they were
doing so to learn more about the applicants' qualifications, while 65 percent
said that they were checking to see whether or not applicants presented
themselves professionally.
"The increasing use of social media platforms has made
professional networking easier than ever," observes Jason Robinson,
Waldwick recruitment professional. "However, this usefulness is beginning
to work both ways. Because social media networks are so useful, more employers
and employees utilize them. The more they are utilized, the more dependable
they become. And the more dependable they become, the more employers and
employees are expected to use them."
It has reached the point, says the article, where those job
seekers who still do not utilize social media networks in their job searching
are missing out on a larger percentage of potential employment opportunities
than ever before - as much as 50 percent of available career positions, the
article speculates.
